Few things get you started like a great breakfast, and we’re happy to report that we have the best breakfast places you’ll ever hope to find right here in Mentor, OH and the surrounding area. None of these places are too far away: they’re all spots a comfortable drive away in your Kia K5.

Sammy’s Family Restaurant

At 625 River St, this place opens up at 6am every morning, and this is an amazing place for everything: the service, the food, the prices, and the portions. Your kids will find plenty to eat here, too, if you’re bringing them along.

Be sure to try their fantastic gravy on biscuits. They do nice oatmeal and grits, homefries and onions, and a killer corned beef hash. Their potato pancakes are also something special. If you’re an omelet lover, we recommend the mushroom. The Greek omelet is also good, with gyro meat, feta, olives, onions, tomato, and green peppers. And if you’re in the mood to treat yourself, get their blueberry pancakes, the stuffed french toast, or the 6oz ribeye steak and eggs meal.

Flavors Around the Square

Flavors Around the Square, affectionately known as FATS, is at 25 S St. Clair St and opens up at 7am every morning. You’ll love this spot: it has standard breakfast favorites, but there are also some creative options here, too. You’ll also find great staff, good portions, and reasonable prices.

Try their homemade sausage gravy on biscuits, and their great country breakfast sandwich, which is egg, sausage, and cheese on fabulous toast. They also do a couple of kinds of eggs benedict, and a Fiesta Scrambler that has bright, delicious flavors. If you want something on the sweet side, try their stuffed pancakes, stuffed French toast, or stuffed waffle.

Bruegger’s Bagels

If you’re in the mood for some great bagels for breakfast, head over to 9210 Mentor Ave in the Mentor Commons Shopping Center. This spot opens at 6am every morning, and it’s a great for tasty bagel creations, good coffee, and friendly staff who will help you get your morning started right.

Get their hazelnut iced coffee and your dark roast coffee to go with their fantastic breakfast sandwiches. A favorite of ours is the Sriracha Honey Sunrise, which is a toasted everything bagel filled with peppered bacon, cheddar cheese, egg, and sriracha honey cream cheese. You might also enjoy the smoked salmon, with tomato, onions, cream cheese, capers, and salmon on a New York-style bagel.

Sisters Tea Room

At 8595 Mentor Ave, this spot opens at 8:30am on Saturday and Sunday for breakfast, and at 11:30am from Wed through Fri. This is a beautiful, old-fashioned tea room with fabulous service.

Try their Scotch egg and French toast with the blueberry compote. Their scones are also amazing, as are the Welsh tea cakes. Be sure to ask them what tea will go best with your breakfast choices.
