Whether you still remember the original dancing hamster commercials or not, the Kia Soul is still one of the brand’s most popular models. The 2023 Kia Soul has a few notable upgrades that make this SUV a true joy to drive.

At a Glance: The 2023 Kia Soul

The 2023 Soul has four trim levels for drivers to choose from. Each of these four trim levels has a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that can produce 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. Some Kia Drive Wise technology is also standard across each trim level, such as auto emergency braking, lane following assist, lane keeping assist, and driver attention warning.

LX

The LX has 16-inch wheels, rear privacy glass, and an interior volume of 120.9 cubic feet. This trim comes with an eight-inch touchscreen display, a rearview monitor, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. The estimated fuel economy for the LX is 28 MPG in the city, 33 MPG on the highway, and 30 MPG combined.

Color options for the LX are Steel Gray, Snow-White Pearl, Gravity Gray, Fusion Black, Inferno Red, and Mars Orange. The seat trim options are black woven cloth or gray two-tone woven cloth.

S

The S trim introduces a few advanced features, such as dual-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, and a Smart Key with push-button start. This time has a 10.25-inch touchscreen for navigation, satellite radio, and Kia Connect. Additional driver assistance features include blind-spot collision avoidance, lane change assist, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance.

The body color options for the S trim include all the colors available on the LX, plus two-tone combinations like Clear White/Fusion Black and Surf Blue/Fusion Black. The only upholstery option is black woven cloth.

GT-Line

The GT-Line is the sportiest trim and has unique GT-Line body styling, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and 18-inch sport alloy wheels. This trim comes with a sunroof and stylish interior upgrades, such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Paint color options for the GT-Line are Inferno Red, Fusion Black, Gravity Gray, Steel Gray, Snow-White Pearl, and two-tone Surf Blue/Fusion Black. The GT-Line also has an exclusive Neptune Blue body color option. Upholstery color options are two-tone black and white SynTex and cloth, or black SynTex and cloth.

EX

The EX is the highest-tier trim level and is fully equipped with premium features, including a power sunroof, heated side view mirrors, and a power driver’s seat with lumbar support. Other highlights are a cargo cover and 17-inch alloy wheels. The fuel economy for the EX trim is 29 MPG in the city, 35 MPG on the highway, and 31 MPG combined.

Along with the standard color options like Steel Gray, Gravity Gray, Fusion Black, Inferno Red, and Snow-White Pearl, the EX trim introduces Surf Blue and Undercover Green as trim-exclusive paint colors. Seat trim options are black Tricot cloth or two-tone Tricot cloth in gray.
