3 Summer Activities You Can Drive to Near Mentor, OH

Mentor, OH, is one of the best places to live in the state. Annual Mentor CityFest

The most notable event during summer has to be the locally famous Mentor CityFest, held on August 18th and 19th in Mentor Civic Center Park at 8500 Munson Road. This rip-roaring fun, two-day family-friendly festival features all-day entertainment, including live music, magic shows, and a variety of strolling performers. There are 20 food vendors at the festival, providing all kinds of tasty fare to snack on as you explore the park. 

At 10 am on Saturday morning, a fantastic parade begins at Shore Middle School Saturday and makes its way to the park. For kids, the highlight is CityFest Kids Zone, which features giant inflatables, bouncy castles, extreme trampolines, all kinds of slides, and obstacle courses. Youngsters can also climb a rock wall, shoot down a zip line, and battle their way through a ninja warrior course. Be sure to join the 20,000 people attending this amazing local summer event.

Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks

This year, you can celebrate the birth of our nation in style at the Mentor Civic Amphitheater with the county’s biggest Fourth of July celebration. At the wonderful Mentor Civic Amphitheater on July 4th, you and your family can settle down on the lawn with blankets or lawn chairs and listen to a magnificent orchestral performance beginning at 7 pm. 

A spectacular 25-minute firework display follows the musical performance. Many food trucks will be there, serving up favorite classic festival food. The Mentor Civic Amphitheater is located at 8600 Munson Road. 

Mentor Farmers Market

Starting on June 16th and continuing until September 15th, you can peruse a wonderful selection of mouthwatering locally sourced produce and dishes at the ever-popular Mentor Farmers Market. Stroll under the shaded canopy of the towering trees in Eleanor B. Garfield Park while tasting samples of scrumptious farm-fresh honey, jams, sweets, chocolates, baked goods, and jerky. It’s the perfect place to stock up on fruit and vegetables, too. 

Once a month throughout summer, they also hold Fantastic Fridays, which includes stalls selling handmade arts and crafts. The market is held from 2 pm to 6 pm in Eleanor B. Garfield Park at 7967 Mentor Avenue. If you drive there in your brand-new 2023 Kia Niro EX, you can fill up your car’s generous 22.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat with enough fresh food for the entire week.
