2023 Kia Soul

The Soul has four different trim levels, and each one has something special to offer the crossover's stunning interior. The base LX level sports rear privacy glass and a sleek aerodynamic design. Upgrade to the S, and you'll have 16-inch alloy wheels boosting the exterior aesthetics. At the GT-Line level trim, you'll find a Soul that's designed for performance, and that includes special GT-Line body styling and 18-inch sport alloy wheels. The EX trim level, on the other hand, is designed to be a bit more luxurious with its 17-inch alloy wheels and sunroof. Additionally, the EX features heated sideview mirrors.

No matter which version of the Soul you choose, you'll have a 2-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood. It offers an impressive 147 horsepower and comes paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. That kind of transmission is still able to make use of the engine's power, but it opts for lower gear ratios when passing and cruising, creating a more comfortable experience than you'd get from a sportier crossover.

The performance of the Soul is more than enough to get the job done when compared to other crossovers. It takes about 8 seconds to go from zero to 60 mph, and the ride is smooth and comfortable the entire way. Front-wheel drive is the only type of drivetrain available, but for most crossover drivers, that's all that's needed for a smooth and satisfying ride. Plus, front-wheel drive tends to be more fuel efficient than all-wheel drive on average.

Inside the Soul, you'll find plenty of space and some of the latest technology. The 10.25-inch touch-screen display on the S, GT-Line and EX trims can feature navigation, Kia Connect, and SiriusXM Satellite radio. You'll also find options for interior design trims as well as an available Harman Kardon Premium Audio System. The Soul features 101 cubic feet of passenger space and a maximum of 62 cubic feet of cargo space when you fold the seats down.

Like most modern crossovers, the new Soul was built to take advantage of advanced safety features and technology. With the Kia Drive Wise system, you'll find a suite of safety features that includes forward collision-avoidance assist as well as blind-spot collision warning and avoidance assist. As if that wasn't enough, this crossover also features rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist and a navigation-based smart cruise control system. Of course, you'll also find a lane-keeping assist and lane-following assist system.
