The 2022 Kia Sorento is a small SUV with a rare third row. Even though it's small, there's ample legroom for both rear rows. With plenty of standard and optional features, the Sorento will please you and your family alike. If you're looking for a family vehicle with plenty of room and a smaller footprint, or even just a new daily driver, look no further than the 2022 Kia Sorento. Here's what has people talking about the 2022 Kia Sorento.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Five trim levels are available for the 2022 Kia Sorento: the LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige. For the S, EX, and SX Prestige trims, you can add the X-Line appearance package for a bit more flair. In addition, you can get plug-in hybrid and hybrid options if you so choose. Heated outside mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels, and LED headlights are among the exterior features of the LX.
Opting for the S trim offers a remote start, a black exterior trim, 18-inch wheels, and roof rails. Selecting the X-Line package adds raised roof rails, restyled bumpers and silver exterior trim, and dark gray-painted wheels. For convenience, there is the hands-free liftgate for the EX trim, as well as power-folding mirrors for the XS Prestige.
Engine (Power)
In addition to the hybrid and plug-in options, you have two other engines available for the 2022 Kia Sorento, depending on your trim level. The engine of choice for the base LX and S is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. For the EX, SX, and SX Prestige, you get a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that cranks out an impressive 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The standard drive train is a front-wheel drive, but the all-wheel drive is available if you want better control in inclement weather and rougher terrain. If you opt for the X-Line, the all-wheel-drive system is standard. Both engines get respectable EPA-estimated mpg, with the turbocharged engine checking in at 25 mpg while the 2.5-liter engine will get 26 mpg. Towing capacity for the two entry trims, the LX and S, is 2,000 pounds and the other trims have a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
Interior
Starting with the LX, you get third-row 50/50 split-folding seats, second-row 60/40 split-folding seats, an 8-inch infotainment touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker audio system. Moving up to the S trim adds simulated leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. Meanwhile, the EX offers a wireless phone charger and second-row captain's chairs. Finally, the SX Prestige includes upgrades such as ventilated front seats, leather seating, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and a heated steering wheel.
Safety Features
The 2022 Kia Sorento has standard features such as driver attention warning, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision mitigation. In addition, other safety features include rear parking sensors, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, rear automatic braking, a 360-degree camera system, a blind-spot camera, and a lane-keeping system.
