2023 Kia K5 vs. 2023 Hyundai Sonata

2023 Kia K5 vs. 2023 Hyundai Sonata

Overview

Both the 2023 Kia K5 and 2023 Hyundai Sonata are stylish midsize family sedans that offer good value for your money. To help you choose between these two capable sedans, here's a short overview.

Power

With the K5, you can choose from two engines. The base turbocharged 1.6-liter engine generates 180 horsepower, while an available 2.5-liter engine has a more energetic output of 290 horsepower. Front-wheel drive comes standard on the base engine, but you can opt for an all-wheel-drive system with the GT-Line trim. The available engine comes with front-wheel drive exclusively. The Sonata has a choice of three engines. The base 2.5-liter engine generates an output of 191 horsepower, while an available turbocharged 1.6-liter engine produces 180 horsepower. In contrast, the N-Line trim has a 2.5-liter engine with an output of 290 horsepower. Both engines pair with a front-wheel-drive system.

Cabin

The cabin of the K5 is quiet on the highway and equipped with modern features. Both front and rear passengers receive spacious seats, and the cargo area of 16 cubic feet is one of the largest in this segment. With the Hyundai, you receive an equally sized cargo area, and the front and rear seats also provide ample legroom. The only aspect of the interior that diminishes its appeal is some cheaper-looking bits of trim.

Technology

Both vehicles feature a well-equipped infotainment system with an 8-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and six speakers. A wide range of standard driver-assist systems also come standard, including forward-collision warning, a lane-keeping system, and blind-spot warning.
